Necessities and fish information

Fish material

Pay attention! The following list does not apply to fishing in the months of March and April. For these groups, only a few pillars weighing 150 - 400 grams are sufficient (we propose the so-called silver and fluo bananas) - two rods: one for punting, the other for fishing for a dead fish.- two solid reels ( preferably multipliers), but not too large. We use the Abu Ambasador size 6000-7000 reels - 0.17 and 0.24 braided line - pilkers - in general we catch pilkers weighing 120 grams, you can put two pieces of 100gr together and a few heavier ones, for example two 150s and two 180s. We do not use heavier 12/0 hooks for reinforcing dead fish, - jig head weighing 150-400 g with two ears - a flexible wire or copper wire to make faces in the system - line or flurocarbon with diam. 0.8 or 1 mm - we will associate systems with a dead fish. - weights not as light as 300 grams, you can place two or three on one system (in the case of fish above 100, fluorescent weights are recommended) - herring systems - good quality connecting wheels, swivels, triple swivels (preferably forged) - a two aggressively working and deeply falling trolling wobblers - month of May - (if you like this fishing system) - I recommend the dega system: the are two hooks, a large (unarmed) and a small hook with a herring wing attached to it - a very effective bait for catching large fish - 22.5 cm rubber (imitation of herring) and 120g-150g-200g heads and one piece 50g - it is advisable to have a movement suit. If in doubt, please contact us a few days before your arrival. We will indicate which fish is best in the current period.

What is caught?

From mid-February to mid-April fishing for cod comes from the Barents Sea. The first halibut will also appear in March. The change of April and May is the perfect time for salmon, haddock and pollack. June is of course the time for powerful salmon and July for black coalfish, which if we are not dealing with anomalies related to the temperature of water, are massive here. July and August are usually very hot months and the herring and mackerel come to us, and behind them are huge schools of fish where herring and mackerel are a delicacy. In principle, we fish all types of fish very close to the islands. There are three excellent fisheries in the Lofoten where large quantities of fish occur. These are the island of Rost and Varoy Grunskalen near Henningsvaer and around the Skrova and Risvaer islands. Looking at the bathymetric map of the waters around the Lofoten, you can clearly see that at the places I mentioned, the seabed is very diverse and depths of up to 600m. and experience actually always catches a lot of fish.
